To me, music and photography are one and the same.
I am preoccupied by tones, and separation. With photographs, getting all the components of the photograph to sit in their own tonal registers, and not clash is part of the composition process.
In music, composition is called ‘the arrangement’. The choice of instruments and their tonal responses is important. What they play and how they make room for each other is a vital part of the arrangement.
I have been thinking that I seem to spend most of my time in photography or music thinking about frequencies. Light (high frequencies) and dark (low frequencies), and how they interact.
