Thematic concepts, are what probably drive me these days. I can’t visualise the final work during the shoot and prefer to leave things open. I do however, sometimes get an indication of where the work may go.
Either way, when I start to edit the work, I spend the first half dozen edits looking for the thematic theme that is hopefully buried in the work, and when I find it, it is as though “this was the idea to begin with” and it dictates everything else from that moment onwards.
