Isle of Eigg Workshop Details

5-Day Photographic Workshop

The small island of Eigg contains perhaps one of the most dramatic and photogenic beaches in Scotland: the Bay of Laig & the Singing Sands. With abundant geological features on each beach and the isle of Rum as a perfect backdrop, this location is a dream for any landscape photographer.

This is a walking only workshop. All locations are reached by foot with most walks taking up to at most 30 minutes for moderately fit people

Getting to the Workshop

We meet in the small town of Mallaig on the morning of the first day. You will have to get to Mallaig the night before and stay in a local bed and breakfast place (not included).

To get to Mallaig you can either drive, or get the train from Glasgow. There is plenty of free parking available in the town of Mallaig for your car (cars are not permitted on the Island). Details will be e-mailed to you as part of the joining instructions.

Getting to Mallaig

There is an excellent rail network from Glasgow to Mallaig. It is advisable to take a train from Glasgow directly to Mallaig the day before and stay in a B&B as the ferry to Eigg will depart in the morning.

There is a train that leaves Glasgow at 12:20 and arrives at Mallaig at 17:43.

The ferry coming back from Eigg arrives in Mallaig at 14:05. The train leaves Mallaig at 16:05pm and arrives in Glasgow at 21:29pm.

Ferries and Seasonal cancellations

Please be advised that there is always a possibility that the ferry to/from Eigg may be delayed or cancelled on the day of departure due to adverse weather conditions. It is advisable to build in some insurance days to the return part of your trip - if you have connecting flights, and allow for additional overnight stays in Mallaig if we are delayed on our way to Eigg.

Arrival

We will meet in Mallaig, the gateway to our destination the Isle of Eigg and will board the Caledonian Macbrayne ferry.
