Arrival
We will meet in Mallaig, the gateway to our destination the Isle of Eigg and will board the Caledonian Macbrayne ferry.
Upon arrival at Eigg, we will be met by Simon our host and taken to our accomodation by mini bus. It is a short walk and many people prefer to do the walk, to enjoy their first views of the Island.
During our time together
Eigg is a small island but there is much to photograph and much to return to as well for the odd repeat visit. We will choose our locations depending upon the light, but you are free to spend time on your own if you wish or even stay in bed!
Each day will consist of the following loose format:
6:00 - 9:00 Sunrise Photography
This can easily be a good hour or three of concentrated photography time after which we will return to the Barn for a much earned breakfast.
9:00 - 10:00 Breakfast
10:00 - 12:00 Morning Photography
We have the option of scouting the island for photographic locations, or revisiting areas of interest from the previous days shoot. If the weather is bad we have the added benefit of doing some digital workflow tutorials. I will be bringing a digital projector and laptop so I can cover Raw processing of images to final output and anything you care to discuss.
12:00 - 1:00 Lunch
1:00 - 7:00 Afternoon and Evening Photography
If the light is soft in the afternoon it's possible to get some lovely shots at this time of day and we will position ourselves at some vantage points to take advantage of the evening light as the sun sets.
7:00 - 8:00 Dinner
8:30 - 10:30 Evening Critique
Each evening we will pick a handful of images from the days shoot to discuss and I will cover aspects such as composition, cropping, lens choice, quality of light and perhaps even show you some of my own work for comparrison.
Departure
On out final morning on Eigg, we will be transported back to the pier to catch the ferry back to Mallaig on the mainland.
