| Majestic despite being compromised One of the world’s iconic structures is corroding. Its translucent marble facade is being destroyed by the daily pollution in Agra. This is not fog you see in these images, it is smog, pollution spewed out by the surrounding factories. I could taste it in my mouth, and I suffered heart-burn as a result of breathing it in for a few hours. But I still fell in love with the Taj Mahal and its gardens despite the circumstances. It is without doubt one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. |
