Taj Mahal

The daily Agra smog broke down the elements of the Taj Mahal gardens into simplistic shapes and tones.

I was compelled by the other tourists, often looking to the spot where the Taj Mahal should be, only to be confronted with a blank wall of mist.

People, Sadhus, tourist touts by the truck load, smells, bulls walking in the street, music on every corner, someone always trying to get my attention. Religion everywhere.

Maddening and overwhelming. I found myself overcome the moment I stepped off the plane in Delhi.

Shrines

Religion is core to India and India's people. It pervades every aspect of life from traditional outback villages to modern day urbanites.

I came across plenty of shrines or prayer pieces. Each with its own character. I only wish I new what they represented.
