| Compelling All along my trip through Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, I was distracted by the multitude and variety of little statues to be found. Sometimes in obvious sight, other times hidden below the nape of a tree in a small courtyard, many were adorned with garments or flowers. Some I found in the sacred Pushkar lake. And some were just in the corner of a turn in a narrow alley way. Religion is everywhere. I won't pretend to know the significance of these objects, and I guess in a way, that makes them more compelling to my western eyes. |
